Walk into next year ahead, not behind.
The first few weeks of math each year set the tone. Students either feel confident, or start falling behind.
Personalized math tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students, including SAT/ACT prep. Choose virtual 1:1 sessions or small group classes.
First session is free. See if we're a good fit, no commitment.
Most spots are filled through referrals before June begins.
A short intro from me about what to expect.
I currently teach math at a top Independent school in San Francisco, and I've spent the last eight years working with everyone from honors students aiming for elite universities to kids who walk in convinced math is "not their thing." I've seen what works, and I've built my approach around it.
I graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Neuroscience, then earned my Master's in Teaching. The neuroscience background is not random. I genuinely care about how the brain learns, and that science shapes every session I teach.
What I'm proudest of is not the test scores. It is the moments when a student who used to dread math starts raising their hand. When a kid texts their parent "I think I actually GET this." When a student who hated word problems starts looking forward to the challenge.
I tell my students every day: be confident, try your best, and remember that struggling means you are growing.
Every student starts somewhere different. My approach is the same every time: meet them where they are, build a plan, and grow.
She didn’t need help catching up. She needed someone willing to keep up with her.
She came to me already well beyond her grade level, sitting in 5th-grade math but ready for so much more. So we stopped pretending her grade level was the ceiling. I taught her the entire 7th-grade curriculum, slowly and properly, focused on real understanding instead of just speed. By the end, she was the only student in her grade selected to advance two grade levels. She’s a 5th grader doing Algebra 2 with me now, and I couldn’t be prouder.
The story most schools would have written for her was “remedial math forever.” Hers turned out different.
When I met her in 6th grade, she was years behind in math, the kind of gap that usually hardens into a track placement nobody questions. We didn’t skip the hard part. We started at the beginning, rebuilt her foundation, and slowly raised the difficulty as her confidence grew. By 9th grade, she placed into honors geometry. The trajectory she was on at 11 wasn’t the trajectory she ended up on.
She had a dream school. The math section stood between her and it.
She had a school she really wanted to get into. Competitive, top-choice, the works. Math was the section she was most worried about. We didn’t waste time reviewing what she already knew. Just targeted content review on her weak spots, real test-taking strategy, and timed practice rounds until the format felt routine. She got in.
He didn’t need help keeping up. He needed someone to push him further.
He was already an honors student, already ahead in his classroom, ready for something his school couldn’t offer him. So we left textbook math behind. Olympiad problems. Abstract reasoning. Creative decomposition. Harder problems every week, under the clock. He qualified for Math Olympiad nationals.

Reserve a Spot"Mrs. Rebecca really helped my daughter and reviewed different concepts in order for her to understand. She went over all of the problems that she had not gone over yet."
"Rebecca has gained the trust and respect of my daughter. This has allowed her to be more open to learning mathematical concepts. We want her to master the subject matter to pursue her interest in the Sciences."
"We loved working with Rebecca. She made my boys feel comfortable. She was on time and very knowledgeable. My son went from a C to an A in his Algebra 1 class. We will continue to work with her and recommend her as well."
"Rebecca has been working with me in the math section of the SAT. She gave me really helpful test taking tips, as well as strategies when reading the question and answers. Whenever I did not understand what to do she would show me what to do and why I needed to do it. I definitely recommend her to any student."
Both virtual. Both fully focused on your student's growth. Two intentionally different experiences. Pick what fits your student best.
Best for students who need personalized support.
Especially helpful if your child is struggling, anxious about math, or needs to catch up on specific topics.
Best for motivated students who want to get ahead and build real confidence in math.
Most students become significantly faster and more confident within 4 to 6 sessions, not just understanding math, but knowing how to approach problems on their own. Parents often tell me their child becomes more confident speaking up in class within weeks.
Tell me a little about your student and I will be in touch within 48 hours to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call.
Your first session is free so you can see if we're a good fit. No commitment.

1:1 tutoring is just your student and Ms. Holt, fully customized to their pace and goals. Small group tutoring puts up to 5 similar-level students together at half the price. Both are taught by Ms. Holt virtually. Many students benefit from group sessions plus a 1:1 every few weeks.
Students are grouped by grade level and skill level so the pacing works for everyone. After your free consultation call, I will recommend the best group fit for your student.
A computer or tablet, a stable internet connection, Zoom (free), and a notebook with a pencil. I share my screen and work through problems on a digital whiteboard.
After our free consultation call, I send an invoice via Stripe or Venmo. Most families pay per session or in 4-session blocks. Sessions canceled with 24+ hours notice can be rescheduled at no charge.
